Frequently Asked Questions

The first session is a chance for us to get to know each other. I’ll ask about what’s brought you to counselling, a little about your background, and what you’d most like to change or explore. There’s no pressure to share anything you’re not ready for. By the end, we’ll talk about whether working together feels like a good fit, and if so, how we’d like to proceed.

This varies from person to person. Some people need just a few and others need longer term support. There’s no commitment. We will keep reviewing from time to time to make sure the sessions are still what you need and you are free to stop at any time.

Not at all. People come to counselling for all sorts of reasons — from managing anxiety or grief, to simply feeling stuck or wanting to understand themselves better. You don’t need to be in crisis or have a formal diagnosis. If something is affecting your wellbeing, that’s enough of a reason.

A major cost for most counsellors is renting a space. By keeping the sessions online I keep the costs down, for myself, and for the client.

If you want to cancel that’s fine – but I do need some notice. I normally ask 48 hours notice if the session is going to be cancelled. Alternatively, you can ask to reschedule. I do normally keep my schedule fairly flexible so it is likely we will be able to find a mutually convenient time between the two of us.

Yes. I have many clients who are either on the spectrum or have ADHD. I adapt my approach to suit each one. Many of my clients come to be because they have struggled to adapt to a neurotypical world. I take a neurodiversity-affirming approach, which means I see your neurotype as a difference — not a disorder to be fixed. Together we can explore what it feels like to be neurodiverse in this world and look at ways to make your struggle easier.

My fees are £40 for 50 minutes. Payment is my bank transfer to be made on the day or before the day of the session.

Yes. Many of my clients experience low mood or feel stuck in their lives. My job as a counsellor is to understand these low moods and help people move forward.
